What is Psoriasis ?



Psoriasis is a non-infectious skin disease in Ayurveda at is called “KAKUSHTA

A Chronic skin disease with reddish silver patches applying self-old urine over skin every night followed by sunbath every morning for a couple of months.
Psoriasis can be hereditary or auto immune.

Prevent dry skin
Use a humidifier to keep the air in your home or office moist. This can help prevent dry skin before it starts. Sensitive skin moisturizers are also great at keeping your skin supple and preventing plaques from forming.

Avoid fragrances
Most soaps and perfumes have dyes and other chemicals in them that may irritate your skin. They can make you smell great, but they also can inflame psoriasis. Avoid such products when you can, or choose those with “sensitive skin” labels.

Reduce stress
Any chronic condition like psoriasis can be a source of stress. This can often turn into a vicious cycle because stress itself can worsen psoriasis symptoms. In addition to reducing stress whenever possible, consider incorporating stress-reducing practices such as yoga and meditation.

Avoid alcohol
Alcohol is a trigger for many people who have psoriasis. A study in 2015 found an increased risk of psoriasis among women who drank nonlight beer. Those who drank at least 5 nonlight beers per week were nearly twice as likely to develop psoriasis, when compared to women who didn’t drink.

Stop smoking
Avoid tobacco. Smoking may increase your risk of psoriasis. If you already have psoriasis, it can also make your symptoms more severe.

Lay It on Thick
Looking for a way to ditch the itch? A heavy cream can be the answer. Try petroleum jelly or another thick moisturizer. It locks water into your skin to help it heal and reduce the redness.

"Season" Your Bath
Want to shed some scales and soothe your skin? Put Dead Sea or Epsom salts into a tub with warm water. Soak for about 15 minutes, and use a moisturizer when you're done to seal in the water.

Turmeric
You might know it as the yellow herb that shows up in foods with a curry sauce. Studies show it may cut down your psoriasis flare-ups. You can try it as an ingredient in your meals or as a supplement.

Tea Tree Oil
It comes from a plant that's native to Australia, but you don't have to go that far to get relief. Shampoos with this ingredient may help psoriasis on your scalp, though more research is needed.

Soak in Oats
It's a natural way to soothe your skin. Put some ground-up oats in your bath, sit back, and relax. Just make sure the water is warm, not hot, so you don't irritate your skin.

Meditation and Yoga
Cut down your stress to shake off your symptoms. Meditation can help you take your psoriasis in stride. Yoga is especially helpful if you have psoriatic arthritis, too, because it eases joint pain and expands your range of motion.

Aloe Vera
Studies suggest this plant can improve psoriasis. Aloe vera is anti-inflammatory and helps decrease redness. Use unscented gel or cream with 0.5% in it on your skin.
Steer clear of tablets. There's no evidence that they help.
